Buying Guide

When choosing a parasol base there are factors which are important to ensure the right choice.

Choose the right Parasol Base

When choosing a parasol base there are factors which are important to ensure the right choice: the weight of the base and the size of the tube must match the parasol.

Weight of the Parasol Base

The base must be heavy enough to keep the parasol stable, especially in windy conditions. The correct weight can also be achieved using tile bases with a cross base.

Helcosol’s Recommendations

  • Up to 1.80m: minimum 15kg
  • 1.80 - 2m: minimum 20kg
  • 2 - 2.7m: minimum 25kg
  • 2.7 – 3m: minimum 30kg
  • 3 – 3.2m: minimum 35kg
  • 3.2 – 3.6m: minimum 40-45kg
  • 3.6 – 4m: minimum 70kg

Parasol Tube & Pole

Helcosol offers three types of tubes, suitable for pole diameters of 19-38mm, 21-54mm, and 28-62mm. A SuperGrip nut and reductor are always included. The SuperGrip nut ensures that the parasol pole does not slip. The reductor allows thinner poles to be securely fixed. Each product listing specifies which pole sizes fit the tube.

Fixed or Mobile Base

Helcosol offers bases with rollers or wheels. If the base needs to be moved frequently, a mobile option is recommended.

Sand or Concrete

Helcosol supplies parasol bases that must be filled with sand and topped up with water. Water alone is insufficient for stability; the combination of sand and water ensures the optimal weight. Icons guide the end customer  for the correct filling method. Concrete-filled bases always meet the stated minimum weight.
